A venereal disease (VD) is also known as a sexually transmitted disease (STD). For testing, diagnosis and treatment of STDs, you should visit an STD clinic in Singapore.
A venereal disease (VD) is an infectious disease that’s acquired through sexual contact with an infected person. It can also be known by other names, such as sexually transmitted disease (STD) or sexually transmitted infection (STI). Any of these names refer to the same group of illnesses.
Many types of venereal disease may be familiar to you. Some types cause what many people think of as the “classic” symptoms of VD, such as pain or burning with urination. These are caused by infections like gonorrhea and chlamydia. Other types cause sores or rashes to appear on the genitals. This can be caused by herpes or syphilis, although a rash on the genitals can also be due to a non-infectious cause like dermatitis.
Some types of venereal disease actually don’t cause symptoms in the genitals at all, but may cause other serious symptoms. Hepatitis B and C can be transmitted sexually, and cause liver damage and even liver cancer. HIV can also be transmitted sexually and causes the immune system to fail, so that the person gets all kinds of other infections. All of these viruses can be transmitted in other ways, such as through a contaminated needlestick, so they aren’t always sexually transmitted diseases.
There is treatment available for many types of venereal disease, so you should visit an STD clinic if you believe that you may have one of these illnesses. Some are easily treated with antibiotics, including gonorrhea, chlamydia, and syphilis, but the treatment should be started as soon as possible. The infection itself can be eradicated, but any damage that it does to your health might be permanent. At an STD clinic in Singapore, you can receive both testing and treatment for venereal disease.
Some of the more serious diseases, including HIV and hepatitis, can be controlled with medications. In some cases, the hepatitis B and C viruses can even be eliminated from the body, but it takes months of medication. HIV is usually a lifelong infection. The care of HIV is a large part of the practice at an STD clinic, and the doctors at an STD clinic in Singapore are experts in the field of HIV. This is an excellent place to go if you believe that you’ve been exposed.
